Rumors: World Of Warcraft On the 360?

This rumor is kinda old but allot of people don't know and have been asking me about it so here are some of the evidence:

What we heard: Part gossip, part geek fantasy, the World of Warcraft Xbox 360 rumor has been around for a while. Prior to E3 2005 in May, scuttlebutt was rampant that Microsoft would announce that the massively multiplayer role-playing game was coming to its next-gen console at its press conference. The company did indeed announce a 360 MMORPG...problem was it was Final Fantasy XI, which is already available for both the PC and PlayStation 2--hardly a system-selling title.

Were WoW to become available for the 360, though, it would be a much different story. Given World of Warcraft's popularity--it already has over 4.5 million subscribers and has been among the top five top-selling PC games since its 2004 release--many gamers would gladly buy a 360 just to get in on the Azeroth action. Also, the PC hardware required to run the game costs several times the hard drive-enabled 360's $399 sticker price.

Enthusiasm for a 360 WoW was flared up with the recent discovery of several Blizzard job listings for next-generation console positions. The site has positions for next-gen engine programmers, next-gen tools programmers, and next-gen game physics/collision programmers.

So will the Xbox 360 be WoW-ed? It is a possibility. However, a more likely scenario was outlined this past February, when Blizzard sent out a product catalog that announced that Starcraft: Ghost was "coming soon to next-generation consoles." Though a rep said the ad was a misprint and denied the long-delayed console game was in development for next-gen platforms, the game's current release window, Q2 2006, is the same as that of the PlayStation 3. Mere coincidence, perchance?

Looks like Microsoft wants to see Blizzard Entertainment's World of Warcraft appear on Xbox 360, reportsGamesIndustry.biz.

"We've been in contact with Microsoft...," said Paul Sams, vice president of business operations at Blizzard. "World of Warcraft was really built with a focus on PC, and while I think it certainly could get to Xbox, it's not something that at this moment we've decided to do."

The incredible popularity of the developer's first stab into the populated MMO market with World of Warcraft has proved a unanimous success. As next-generation consoles advance online integration, the lack of a console version becomes all the more surprising.

Right now, Blizzard sees the lack of a keyboard and mouse holding back any console renditions of World of WarCraft. "Those are things that are not standard, they're peripherals, and peripherals have historically not done well for any of the console companies unless you're talking about additional controllers or memory cards," said Sams.

Seeing as how Square Enix overcame this problem with Final Fantasy XI on the PlayStation 2, World of Warcraft landing on Xbox 360 seems a question of "when" more than anything else.

With all the news about how difficult time's Console MMO's are having I decided to make a list of the next wave of MMO's intended to be on consoles

1. Arenanet's Guild Wars 2 (360/PS3)

NCsoft's CEO Kim Taek Jin Confirmed Development of 360/PS3 Version of both
Guild Wars 2 and Blade & Soul,
Although it's been made clare that only a small team is looking into it.
Blade & Soul is looking to be the best action orientated MMO ever and Guild Wars 2 is definitely going to reinvent the whole genre.

2. Team Bloodlust's Blade & Soul(360/PS3) (see above)

3. Realtime World's APB (360)

This next one is kind
of a weird case first it was announced for the PC and the 360..recently it has been rumored to be dropped with no official reason given and more recently they claimed it will be a totally different game on consoles (not specified which of them).
Im kinda confused myself about this one.

4. Sony Online Entertainment's Agency (PS3)

This one comes from Sony's online Entertainment Department
Its been confirmed that upon beginning the game you will choose between 2 agency's(There's been hinting at more)
And that there is one main story which ties them all together.
It will feature Firstperson-shooter style gameplay.
Not Much has been revealed of this MMO

5.Funcom's The Secret World (360)

Perhaps one of the most original mmo's this
generation is The secret world, it combines urban legends, magic and reality together creating a world that resembles ours only the lochness monster is a real thing in the game that is.
Recent news revealed that they rebuild London in the game, from the
empty forgotten streets to the fish & chips restaurants.
This game is definitely looking to be one of the best MMO's this generation as gamescom is coming closer and closer(tommorow actually) we will be getting more and more information about this awesome MMO/

6.Blizzard's World of Warcraft (360)

This is either the biggest CRAP I've ever heard or A dream come true.
YES! its Blizzard's beast of an MMO
World of Warcraft...coming to the 360?
it doesn't seem impossible Microsoft and Blizzard are best buddy's,
They have been talking about the Xbox 720 together and we all know they both love
themselves some money...so maybe A launch title for the 720 then?
This has been rumored for about 2 years now.
When are you gonna make it happen Microsoft? Throw some money at them!

SO these are some the biggest MMO Games coming to the 360/PS3.
